Shopping and the Estes Park Village
There are over 300 gift shops, specialty stores, galleries, wineries and even a brewery to enjoy in the Estes Park Village. Don’t waste time looking for a parking spot. At the Lake Estes Marina next door to Lake Shore Lodge, you can hop on the free Shopping Shuttle which takes you right downtown. There is always a festive feel when in the Estes Park Village. Summer brings weekend events in Bond Park and weekly musical outdoor performances. From simple souvenirs to remember your trip to Estes Park to high quality antiques, furniture and collectibles to decorate your home, there is something for everyone to enjoy and discover in downtown Estes Park.
The Estes Park Village offers several scenic walking areas. Just steps from downtown there are stone ruins of historical value known as the Knoll. On a little hill above downtown nestles the Birch cabin built in 1908. Above it are the ruins of an older cabin built in 1907 by Albert Birch who was then the Denver Post’s city editor. On a bitter cold night in December of 1907, the stone and wood retreat burned to the ground. What remains is a stone structure holding the mysteries of the past and creating a romantic image on the Estes Park skyline.
Along the Fall River, which runs through the center of the town of Estes Park, is the ‘Riverwalk’. This path follows the river’s edge and is a peaceful getaway from Elk Horn Avenue, the main shopping street downtown. Take a break and enjoy a peaceful picnic lunch or just relax under a shady tree and listen to the river flow by. At the west end of town near Performance Park is another walking oasis: Mrs. Walsh’s Garden. You can stroll through this mountain garden and enjoy the flora of life zones from the foothills to the alpine tundra. However you decide to explore the Village of Estes Park, know that you will be welcomed in our year-round, family-friendly community.
